Good Bye Taipei - First Transfer

Last night in Taipei - Sunset

HEY PENGYOU PENGYOU (friend)

When we met with Zhang Dx's mother, she was bright and bubbly. She loved when me and Sister Xie sang Families Can Be Together Forever. I was so nervous for it, but it went really well!

Zhang Dx and his mother (:

When we left their house we got a call from the assistants telling us that Sister Xie would be training!! She was nervous and asking me lots of questions about how I adjusted to Taiwan. She will be so awesome!! The next two days were full of packing and sad goodbyes. When you serve in an area for this long you get really attached. I taught my last English class in Taipei, after my students gave me presents. (they are too nice) There is a mom and her two daughters that told me they actually live in a different area and weren't supposed to come to this English class. But they did because I gave them confidence. It made me feel really good, and really realize that Heavenly Father puts people in your path that you can influence for good. I then said goodbye to all my investigators that came to visit me after English class. The hardest goodbye was with Zhang Xuan Ye our little 13 year old boy. He was so sad. He told me that he had never felt this love, care, and warm feeling from anyone before. He also said that his heart was shattered and started crying. I never wanted to hug someone more then I did right then. It honestly broke my heart. But he will be fine and soon he will be baptized! (:

Sad Goodbye's with Sister Xie!

The next morning I was on my way to the east coast! A four hour train ride to Yuli! And it was beautiful. I saw ocean, mountains, and fields.

I sat there and wrote in my journal, it was a really good time to reflect on my mission. I got to Yuli and found my companion, then we got to work. Yuli is the EXACT opposite of Datong. Datong is one with the most city and populated areas. Yuli is the biggest area with the least population in the whole mission. There are no people on the streets from 1-4 pm. It feels like I am in a completely different mission. It almost reminds me a little bit of my grandparents town in Wallowa, Oregon but completely Asian and full of rice fields. We do not have a ward here yet, we have a cute branch. And we live above our church, which is super convenient. My companions name is Sister Weaver. She is from Sandy, Utah. She is awesome! She took Chinese for three years before the mission and also some Japanese. So "lihai". She's a good companion and I am lucky to be her breaker! We have some really great investigators,  and I have met a few of them! I am super excited to meet the rest! Our mission has a new rule where we are not allowed to teach men unless we are also teaching their family. And the Elders are the same but with women. This transfer will be a lot of adjusting to new things! Especially all the biking I am doing now lol.

I know that the church is true! No matter where you are in the world, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the same. I am so grateful we have a loving Heavenly Father who knows all of us individually!
Have a great week!!

Rice, rice, rice is everywhere

Ni Hao!

Ni hao!

This week has been a looooong one. But good of course! It started out getting rejected like crazy. It felt like there wasn't a single person in the world that wanted to talk to us. I even got the worse rejection I have ever had this week from one of our investigators. It is one that I will probably never forget. I had just poured my soul out to him about how the Book of Mormon has blessed my life and how I know it is the word of God and that if he reads it he will come to know for himself that it is true. Do you know what he said back? He flat out told me he will not read the Book of Mormon. It like shattered my heart in a way I didn't know it could be shattered. BUT we met with him again yesterday and he committed to reading it everyday!

So let's discuss how Satan uses the littlest of things to keep people from hearing the gospel. That new Pokemon game has become my enemy. The Taiwanese are obsessed with it. When we are out trying to talk to people we get told they have no time to talk to us cause they are busy playing it. It happens ALL the time. We have only had a few put their phones down for us. Satan is so sneaky.

We had been planning a fireside for members for so long and it finally happened!! It was super fun and super successful. We had it for all three wards in the Jin Hua chapel and themed it after the Book of Mormon. We had dinner, had a play of Ammon's story, and then had different rotations based on Book of Mormon prophets. Me and Sister Xie were the brother of Jared (I was also the Daughter of Lamoni, and a sheep!) After we came back together and talked about the roles of members in missionary work and got lots of member referrals! Members are so important in this work!

Guess what! We had Mission Conference yesterday! The whole mission was there and we heard from Elder David F. Evans from the Quorum of the Seventy and the new member of the Asia Area Presidency! It was a good reunion to see my friends (it's been so long) (and it was Sister Menzies birthday) and have a powerful conference. I really have the best mission, and the best leaders ever. I am so grateful for them and all they do for us.

We had a huge miracle this week. Zhang Dx our long time investigator that me and Sister Knapp met my first week here has not gotten baptized because of his mother. She does not like that he is going to church, and never wanted to meet us. But guess what. Heavenly Father has answered our many prayers, and she agreed to let us come over TONIGHT. This feels like the biggest/most important day of my life.

Transfers are TOMORROW It's crazy how fast each transfer goes by. I will let you know next week what happens! (: Have a good week! Thanks for all the love and support!
