This week really was a testimony builder.
After emails last week we hiked one to one of the prettiest waterfalls I have ever seen. I loved every minute of it. And I soaked it all in. Taiwan is beautiful and definitely one of the prettiest places on earth! I am so grateful that Jesus Christ created this beautiful earth and that I am able to serve in this little island of Taiwan.
When we met with our investigator who is overcoming her addictions, we based our lesson on the scriptures Alma 7:13-16. Some of my favorites. (the whole bom again is my favorite)
The power in conversion that the The Book of Mormon combined with the Holy Ghost has is incredible. It was a really good lesson and didn't only strengthen our investigator's testimony but it strengthened mine.
We taught Zhang Xuan Ye the Word of Wisdom this week. It was one of the funniest/intimidating lessons I've ever had hahaha. The beginning of the lesson we reviewed prophets and why it is important to follow them. Right when we started to talk about the Word of Wisdom, the Ama came in with a packet and asked me to translate it for her (it was in english) I told her it was cha (tea) and she put it down right by me and sat down, we were like welp this is great. Then the dad comes in smoking and puts his pack of cigarettes right next to us too hahahaha but we went on teaching it. We talked about how cigarettes and tea are bad but my companion decided to use coffee as our example while we talked about addictive substances so we didn't totally offend someone in that room. Right as we mentioned coffee, Zhang Xuan Ye pointed at his ama and started laughing at her. She loves Coffee. Lol anyways that was a fun lesson. And he committed to keeping the Word of Wisdom!
I haven't talked much about Chinese! Its coming!! We got a new lesson learning program at the beginning of this transfer. It is so good, I absolutely love it!! It's helping me become a Ching Chong Chinese Jedi Master (inside joke between me and Elder Lin our district leader). This morning for a little bit of language study my companion helped me translate the songs Army of Helaman and Book of Mormon Stories! It was fun!
We had a night full of miracles...Seriously me and my companion were practically so amazed with how Heavenly Father has things happen. I wish I had time to type it! Next week..ba? (:
Guess what? DAVID ARCHULETA CAME TO OUR MISSION. He is in Taiwan right now. And guess what else, he did a special fireside for us missionaries. It was incredible. (hao ting!) We decided it would be a good missionary opportunity too so we had two of our investigators come (James and Yu Dx) and it was. He sang songs and told us stories from his mission. It was one of the most inspiring/influential firesides I have ever been to. My favorite song of his is "He Showed Me How" (go listen to it right now) It is my favorite and probably will be for the rest of forever because I feel like it is literally written for/about me. The change that it talks about, is the change I have felt on my mission. Every word. I am grateful I have had the opportunity to change, I am grateful I have changed, and I am grateful for the opportunity to keep changing. Because I know no matter how hard I try I will sometimes fall short. That's why I NEED my Savior. That's why we all need our Savior. Through his Atonement we can find that change. We can become better. There is more to all of us that we could ever imagine. If we want that change, if we want to find out our potential we need to come closer to our Savior Jesus Christ. It is the only way. I know and I testify that if we do we can feel and see that change in us. I know, because he showed me how.
I have lots of pictures this week I apologize for the over load.
Be safe and thanks for all the love!
